Recently I was lucky enough to receive an offer for a Multi Fun Fin Analyst Asc position. The offer and salary was a bit higher than I expected and thus I am very happy with it. However, I have been reading on here that it's always best to try and negotiate a bit higher (makes sense to me). My question is: is it ok/expected to negotiate or make a counter offer through email? Now it may be a stupid question but so far I have only communicated with the HR person who extended the offer through email and read about an engineer on Glassdoor doing it through email. Personally I feel that it would make me seem a little meek but on the other hand I don't trust myself to do it over the phone (never negotiated before) and it would allow me to clearly communicate my points.
Also how much more should a person ask for in these entry level positions. If I was offered 50k would it be reasonable to ask for 53 and expect something in the middle? Thanks for the help!
