I recently got a job offer in a site in New York and am super excited about it. I think it will be a great place to start my career and I know I've always wanted to work for Lockheed. In the long run though, I know that New York is not the place where I would like to settle down and I know after a year or two of working on this site I will want to move somewhere warm like to the West Coast. Is it common for Lockheed employees to relocate to another Lockheed site? Or is this frowned upon?
I appreciate your responses and thank you in advance.

Lockheed Martin Forum - Getting Electronics/ Electrical Engineering @ Lockheed Martin: Hi folks, Before I posted this, I've ...
Hi folks,
Before I posted this, I've done several applications through Lockheed Martin website. Recently this year, my point of interest is getting broad because my supervisor told me earlier that Lockheed Martin would be a better opportunity for me. Thus, I'm trying to apply for job at LM now.
My major is master in electrical engineering, specific in digital design, wireless tech and communication. My point of interest of engineering is to get better knowledge in depth about how I would apply my knowledge into practical life.
I really want to work at LM. I applied maybe around 17 applications for electrical or system engineering because I have diverse background with computer engineering and hands on trouble shooting.
Well, before I read several comments about getting job or even interview at LM is really difficult, I was wondering about my chance to get interviewed or even accepted as part of engineering team. Do I still have that ? I heard also that you should at least graduated with 4.0 GPA from Florida Tech, well I'm Florida Tech student however my GPA now is 3.8. Am I still eligible to apply for LM Electrical Engineering job ?
Indeed, I'm pretty confident about my skills however how hiring managers know about my skills if it's just basically from resume and papers. I believe there are plenty of people who compete and have same expectation to work with LM.
If anyone works with LM whoever who can help and guide me to get a electrical engineering position, even entry level / associate I will be really appreciate that. I'm just kind a wondering, not to let myself down but I really want to know how I should prepare to get accepted with LM

Lockheed Martin Forum - Don't wait long for a start date from LM because they will rescind their offer and cease efforts to find you employment: 1st... I see that there are several peop...
1st... I see that there are several people questioning why LM has not contacted them after applying for a position. I was surprised that LM did not contact me as well; however, after ~ a month I was contacted by LM. I am not aware of a way to catalyze 'the process'... I think that the best way is to continue applying for (new) positions.
OK, the reason that I am writing this post... While unemployed (laid off) I received 5 job offers including 1 from LM to start working in Baltimore, MD, which was the best offer (~ $10k more annually). The recruiter told me that the start date would be in 1 to 2 months, which I was OK with. However, the position was on a contract that was awarded & funded to LM and I was lead to believe that the position was awarded & funded as well. However, after waiting 2 months (in the middle of the holidays) LM informed me that the position was no longer available. I applied for several (new) positions and asked the recruiter to help me find employment at LM but I have not been contacted by anyone at LM since (~ a month ago). Everyone that I talk to is shocked that a company as 'reputable' as LM would do this... so I wanted to let others know / learn from my lesson. I would accept an offer from LM in the future, but only if the start date was within ~ 2 weeks.
Good Luck!

Lockheed Martin Forum - Application Status: I was wondering if there is any general ...
I was wondering if there is any general phone number I can call to find out the status of my application. I had an interview on December 20th and they said they'd get back to everyone with a month. I haven't heard anything yet and the positions that I applied for on lockheedmartinjobs still say "open." I tried emailing the people who set up the interview session but no one has responded and I have no phone numbers for any of them. At this point I would just like to know whether or not I am still being considered or if they've already picked their candidates. I felt pretty confident coming out of the interviews and since the positions are still listed as open I am still hopeful but I would just like to be certain.
Thanks,
Josh

Recently applied for a Communications Systems Engineer position with LM. I have respected this company as long as I can remember, and the job description fit my skill set to a tee. I am wondering if there is a way to contact the hiring manager directly (Spokane, Fairchild) so I can provide more information than the sterile online application form. I know I can wow them, just need a foot in the door!

It's not so much about your resume--- the term "experienced professionals" is more of a catch-all to classify people with a certain measure of experience. I think that the range is something like 5-7 years now?
That being said, LM usually has a lot of room to be flexible if they come across the ideal candidate for a certain position...

Lockheed Martin Forum - Obtaining an Internship with Lockheed Martin: Hi all, My name is Chris. I am a high...
Hi all,
My name is Chris. I am a highly skilled and motivated graduate student in aerospace engineering at Georgia Tech looking for an internship (with the intent of post-graduation employment; I want a career with LM, not just an internship). I have, from day one, always wanted to work specifically for Lockheed Martin. My skills are mainly in thermal-fluids analysis, mechanical design, and systems engineering.
I have applied to 24 positions online that I believe I am highly qualified for (and I will probably apply to several more; I really want to work there!) I have also attended every Lockheed Martin information session and recruiting/career event that has occurred since I moved here for grad school. I have handed out as many resumes as I could to every Lockheed Martin person I have ever had face-to-face contact with. I had an on-campus "career discussion" with one of the recruiting folks, (which I believe went quite well) and I have contacted five people, including Jerry Kirby, the recruiter at the Marietta facility, about Lockheed Martin and getting my foot in the door.
I have yet to hear anything whatsoever from anyone. No emails, no nothing. I strongly believe I am a good candidate for an internship position with Lockheed Martin, and I am EXTREMELY motivated. Lockheed Martin is my dream company, no competition. Is there anything whatsoever that I can do to further increase my chances or get my name past the online system? I want a career with Lockheed Martin so badly but I must admit it is somewhat demoralizing to hear absolutely nothing back from anybody. Does anyone have insight as to the hiring process for interns? Is there any way to find the contact info of the manager that posted a position?
I appreciate any time and consideration given to my questions.
-Chris

Hi Emily, thanks for your contribution to this thread. I know it's been quite a while since you got a start date at LM but I was wondering if you could provide me with some assistance, tips or suggestions as to how to apply to LM, particularly in Ft. Worth. I have a strong Logistics/Supply Chain background and I recently applied to 8 different positions in the Logistics, Project Planning, and Items Analyst areas. It's my first time applying since I'm about to transition out from the Air Force and any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks and good luck!

Hi guys,
So I had a question about what to expect for a starting position salary. I'm a senior mechanical engineering major at Carnegie Mellon University. I interned at LMMFC last summer in Grand Prairie and will be back there again this summer as an intern since I'm doing a 4.5 year dual Bachelors/Master program at CMU (I'll be going back in the fall to finish up my Masters degree) I'm almost certainly going to be returning to LMMFC full-time after I graduate with my Masters and I was wondering what I could expect salary-wise. I'm going to be working in stress analysis this summer and would probably return to a similar position for full-time.

I have applied to a couple of open positions located in the Fort Worth area. I keep seeing the same position get re-posted with the same REQ number. If I applied a month ago and the position was re-posted about an hour ago, should I assume that I was not a good fit for the job, or is there just not enough candidates to interview? If anyone could provide me with insight on this topic that would be great!
David.
Don't hold your breath. Until this administration (Obama) is gone, you can forget about any jobs with Lockheed. Obama has destroyed this industry, and will continue to do so until his term is done. I suggest you look at other contractors,ie: L-3, Dyncorp, URS, until after the democratic control of our country is over.
@kimmeastar, I do understand that the DoD has been going through a lot of budget cuts that may have targeted many defense contractors but I disagree with you since all I hear from LM is how they keep expanding their projects, not only in the defense/government sector but also in the commercial and civilian side. Say for instance the F-35 program, this program has been around for quite a while and deliveries have already been made particularly to the US Air Force. Also consider that this is not only a joint services program within our armed forces but it also includes other nations that have pitched in to develop this program and acquire this new technology. Australia, UK, Israel to name a few have been involved in this project. Think also about mobility, the US Air Force's entire C-5 fleet is undergoing through a brand new upgrade to all C-5B models to convert them into the new C-5M model. Dover AFB was the first base to start it, I remember when the first M model rolled out into our installation around Spring 2009 and now the program will revamp all C-5 Bases. To me this sounds like we're going to have a good 20 to 30 yrs worth of these two programs alone while hiring massive amounts of people, even if the economy fluctuates due to global trends.
Hi everyone,
I just wanted to take a moment to say "thank you" for the unbelievable response to my team's first e-book, "How to Get Hired by Lockheed Martin "! Over the past two years, we've sold over 500 copies but more importantly, at least two dozen job seekers have let us know that they've landed interviews with the company!
As our way of saying thanks, we're offering this e-book for FREE over at Smashwords.com, from now through July 22. Just enter the coupon code"ZY76Z" when placing your order, and you'll have a free copy of the book in minutes.
If you find that this e-book helps you in your job search, please take a moment to leave a quick rating or a review on the Smashwords site. Thank you again for all the support, and keep those applications coming in!
Hi Bob,
I would like to know if your book is still free over at Smashwords.com? I also wanted to ask you what is the usual time frame for a recruiter to contact a candidate once a pre-screening question is filled out?
Thank you!

Hello everyone,
This is mostly a question for all LM recruiters. There's a couple of LM positions that I have applied so far, like 12 to be exact by using five versions of my resume and cover letter, as the portal allows. My question may be confusing initially but here goes. If I would like to remove one of my resume/cover letter versions and replace them with a new one, would that affect the documents provided to a job posting that I have already applied to? Thanks!
